As Gordon Brothers’ specialty retail & outlet consultant, Josh is responsible for retail advisory, restructuring and strategic growth. As a retail expert in the mall and outlet arena, Gordon Brothers’ clients will benefit from Josh’s experience from his career spanning almost 20 years representing some of the world largest retail and fashion conglomerates. Over the course of Josh’s career, he has completed several thousand retail real estate transactions in every type of retail real estate. As the Director of Real Estate at Speedo Authentic Fitness Stores (division of Warnaco), he helped aggressively grow the chain from 30 to over 120 stores. Josh then spent almost 10 years at G+G Retail (RAVE, G+G and Rave Girl stores) as Vice President of Real Estate managing and building the portfolio to over 600 stores, including 60+ stores in Puerto Rico. Josh subsequently joined Jones Retail Corporation (division of Jones Apparel Group) as Vice President of Real Estate. At Jones, he helped manage the company’s 1000 store chain including brands such as Nine West, Anne Klein, Easy Spirit, Jones New York, Kasper and Bandolino. In 2010, Josh formed Podell Real Estate Advisors, a retail advisory firm whose clients include; Jones Apparel Group, Carter’s/Osh Kosh, Kenneth Cole, Juliska, Rawlings Sporting Goods, Traffic Shoes, Flip Flop Shops, Beya, and other national and regional retailers. Josh has been featured in real estate and retail media including: The New York Times, Real Estate New York, Chain Store Age Executive, Retail Traffic Magazine, Shopping Center Digest, Value Retail News, Crittenden Retail News, Shopping Centers Today, Globe Street Retail, and The Dealmakers. Josh has also been a guest lecturer for the MBA program at Hofstra University’s Frank G. Zarb School of Business and a guest speaker at ICSC’s Retail Runway, the Cornell Club, ICSC’s NextGen program, the Cushman and Wakefield Global Symposium and the Penn Club. Most recently, Josh was honored to be part of Real Estate New York Magazine’s 40 under 40. Prior to joining the real estate industry, Josh was a legislative intern to The Honorable Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan (101st Congress) and staff assistant to the United States Senate Committee on Small Business (102nd Congress).
