Haruhiko Masuda oversees all businesses of Gordon Brothers Japan which focuses on three integrated business platforms. Haruhiko has over 30 years of broad experience in global investment banking and commercial banking businesses. During the last 20 years, he played a key role in a number of major international M&A transactions as an advisor not only to Japanese firms but also to US and European firms. In addition, his experience extends to a wide range of corporate finance activities including financing of Japanese and non-Japanese corporations, bankruptcy-related cases in the United States, and proceedings under the Civil Rehabilitation Act in Japan. Haruhiko started his career in 1981 with the Industrial Bank of Japan (IBJ). He held a variety of positions in Japan and the US while at IBJ, such as the Deputy General Manager of the Bank's San Francisco Branch, President & CEO of The Bridgeford Group in New York (IBJ's M&A subsidiary), and General Manager of the Corporate Advisory Group of Mizuho Securities in Tokyo. In 2007, Haruhiko joined Bear Stearns as Senior Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking in Tokyo. Prior to joining Gordon Brothers Japan in 2012, he was Managing Director at the Royal Bank of Scotland plc’s Tokyo Branch. At both firms, he was responsible for building the firm's investment banking business in Japan. Mr. Masuda holds a BA in Law from Waseda University and a LLM from Cornell Law School.
