Earthmoving Contractor

Earthmoving Contractor

Case Study

A long-standing earthmoving contractor had acquired a parcel of equipment via an acquisition that included machines not fitting their typical fleet profile. Historically, equipment disposal had either been done by dealer trade-in or by use of an auction house. In this instance, Gordon Brothers was engaged to dispose of surplus earthmoving assets from the contractor’s premises in Ballarat, Victoria. These assets comprised two 2014 Komatsu HM400-3M0 Dump trucks, one 2014 Komatsu D155AX-6 Dozer, and one Komatsu WR-97R Backhoe Loader. We were tasked with re-marketing these machines with the expectation of delivering a superior outcome compared to traditional channels.

Leveraging our extensive network, we sold all assets within a three-month period without the usual reliance on marketing. We identified several domestic buyers, selling the two dump trucks into Western Australia, the dozer into Queensland, while the backhoe remained in Victoria.

Gordon Brothers maximized realization amounts and achieved greater returns than typically achieved through traditional disposal channels, successfully meeting both the owner's price objectives and timing needs.
